Are you a bit bored? Would you like to learn how to sketch birds? Then this is the thread for you. If you think you can't draw I'm here to tell you that yes you can. It's a learned skill like writing so grab a pen or pencil and let's have a go! #CreateWithEmma
Drawing anything is basically about drawing shapes. Start off practicing some different shapes. Birds and animals use the three shapes below in some form or other, stretching them or cutting them in half too. You don't often see hexagonal birds but they make funky chickens

When you look at a bird try to see what shapes you think it's made from. Draw those first, look at proportions, how big is one shape relative to another (you can measure with a pencil) when they're right refine your drawing.
Experiment drawing birds from simple shapes. Looks like a child has done it? So what, children are highly creative, adults are highly critical. Drawings don't have to look like photos, it's your view of the world not a camera's. Use cheap paper, play and have fun!
Once you're confident with simple shape drawings you can make them more complex. Always remember - look, see shapes and proportions. Often I use guidelines to help me position things.
Colour is the last thing you can add to give drawings some life. If the outline is right the colour doesn't need to be fancy for it to work.
If you have any questions please as below and I'm happy to help, remember it's all about having fun and I'd love to see your drawings.
