Sebenarnya aku faham ramai yg tak tahu mcm mana ID works & sbb apa bayar mahal utk hire ID, meh aku cerita secara santai utk korg faham yang ID bukan sekadar pilih cat dinding, pasang langsir & pilih perabut. ID is an extreme journey. YA!

1. Appointment.
ID tak akan start kerja kalau korg tak bayar first stage payment, mcm deposit lah. Aku tak tahu ID lain tapi aku tidak selagi tak secured with first payment.
Masa stage ni baru lah ID buat proper site review, measurement, analysis, documentation etc.

At this stage, ID nak fhm keadaan site secara mendalam. Yes. Sebelum stage ni sebenarnya ID & Client dah bincang pun pasal project and of course from the Initial Meeting ID akan email Fee & Scope of Work. Stage ni start bila Client dah agreed dgn Fee etc. First payment, kerja ON
Ada ID yg charge untuk Initial Meeting maybe charge per hour or visit. Initial Meeting ni more discuss pasal project, concept, location, budget, timeline etc untuk ID come out with relevant Fee and Scope of Work. Yes, we need to understand the Client’s Brief first.
There is no such thing “Hi boleh tak bagi quotation untuk design.....”
Sebab ID bukan jual product, kami adalah consultant untuk service so fee semu bergantung kepada kehendak Client. Design mewah, fee mewah, dan sebaliknya. Client yg tentukan how much dorg nak spend.

2. Design Presentation
Bila dah tahu Client’s Brief, site condition semua barulah ID come out with Design Presentation. Gentle Reminder, ID bukan tuhan design, bukan sekali petik design keluar depan mata.

Stage No 2 ni penting sbb design stage lah yg mencabar creativity ID untuk translate Client’s Brief kepada a complete set of Interior Design. Dari ketetapan ruang, pemilihan perabot, design dan sebagainya.
Kena ambik tahu likes and dislikes Client. Here is the challenge.

Jangan terkejut kalau ID akan ambik masa maximum 4 weeks untuk buat design presentation sebab untuk gather maklumat and translate ikut design itu makan masa. Sebab masa present bukan cakap design guna mulut je. Banyak benda nak kena present sekali.
Dalam Design Presentation akan ada proposed furniture layout, elevations, 3D Visuals or sketches, sample materials and reference images of furniture and furnishing untuk emphasize design.
Semua preliminaries ini akan gather for maybe one or two hours presentation.

And tdk berhenti disitu saja. Buat ID ni org kata jgn syok sendiri. Kita kena faham Client, come out with the design and here is the thing, Client kena approve the design direction before proceeding to next stage.
Benda ni normal, Client kena comment for revision or approve.

And Client tak boleh suka2 commenr juga. Haaaa. Here is the org kata budi bicara, design discussion. Ingat Client’s Brief. So comment pula kena refer balik apa yg Client nak. If ID tak follow exactly, maknanya ID ada missed out items here and there and itu ID kena revise.
Or ada yang Client tak suka mcm furniture tak kena, still within Client’s Brief on the design, ID kena change and propose something yg related to the concept.
If Client minta totally new away from the initial Client’s Brief, itu dah new design. For me, I will charge extra.

All the revision kena buat lah if ada benda nak kena change here and there and of course, all revisions, comments akan bring the timeline even longer, so, of initially ID ada propose work programme, so the work programme now has to be revised accordingly to the changes.
So kau ingat sampai situ saja? Pilih colour dinding? Tidak.
3. Design Detail Drawings
Bila Client approved, finalize design presentation etc, barulah ID proceed untuk documentation all the design, dalam Detail Drawings. Ini sama extreme dgn presentation kali ni very technical

At this stage, ID akan draw all the design dalam AutoCAD untuk detail drawings with all the specification, dimensions, setting-out etc. Kalau Layout Plans at least ada 10, semua kena include, lighting, electrical, ceiling layout and floor finishes, ALL.
Detail Drawings ni sangat complicated sebab everything kena precisely drawn untuk construction. Kau ingat benda main2?
And once again, all these details kena run-through dgn Client, for final approval. Dari situ if ada comments kena revise etc. And kena final compile.

4. Procurement.
Bila dah final compilation Client dah approved, baru lah the detail drawings akan pass untuk Contractor for quotation.
Oh lupa nak cakap. At first of course ID and Client talked about budget etc, so, ID akan work accordingly to the budget AND Client’s Brief.

At some point, the design dah cantik elok dah and katalah exceeded Client’s budget. From there baru lah kita revisit balik and try to reduce mana yg boleh reduce. Try to keep the design and consult the best for the Client.

Itu baru kau procure untuk construction, banyak lagi dik kau as ID nak kerja, all the suppliers, window treatment anything yg tak dalam detail documentation tapi dalam specification sheets, furniture, furnishing all these kena procure and get client approval.
Akan ada part yang Client reject the proposal and again kau kena procure yang lain sampai semua quotation dah finalized and approve for purchasing. ID akan buat all the communication with reflective vendors and suppliers, thats why Client hire ID, to do all these things too.
Once Client dah finalize all the quotation and make deposit payments to all the contractors, suppliers & vendors, barulah ID akan programme untuk delivery and installation etc.
Hah, susun perabut ya? Tidak ya. Nak jalan2 browsing2 sourcing semua ID, nak deal segala semua ya

5. Construction and Installation
Sementara nak procure items, kalau construction cost dah approve, yang ni kena jalan dulu. At this stage ID kena monitor construction works to make sure construct as designed! The right material, dimensions yang betul and location yg betul.

Kalau aku, aku akan buat Weekly Site Meeting utk go through progress dgn contractors, suppliers etc untuk make sure works are accordingly to the programme. Selain tu aku kena monitor, inspect if ada defects or rectification yg kena buat, kena bagi instructions untuk betulkan.
Just to make sure yang site kena handover accordingly to the initial programme taknak any delay etc so everything kena confirmed , reviewed and finalized.

At the same time, ID akan received all the loose items, furniture, installation for furnishing or any interiors systems mcm kitchen ke at this stage. Pun kena make sure items yg arrived as approved, no damage if ada kena make a report and return back to to the vendors.
Bagi aku stage ni senang sebab design stage finalized, yg mana design stage yg paling susah sbb it involved artistic application and research semua and nak document the details and specification.

6. Handover
The final stage. Phewwwww. Bila semua dah siap, construction, installation everything dah completed, baru lah come to the part, yang mana kalau make up kita pakai setting spray. Kalau ID, kita styling!
Akan ada professional cleaners yg akan clean the site too!

Rumah akan completely cleaned and smell so good. Ex boss aku dulu suka include room sprays as gifts and spray the house before Client sampai hehehe. Well, I will do the same hahaha.
And dah siap buat interior styling with fresh flowers etc baru lah handover to the Client.

BELUM!!! Here is the final Client’s review and comment hahaha. So masa ni akan review all the site tengok if ada defect or tidak on the furniture built ins etc. If ada, ID ada defect liability period untuk certain items. So kena lah rectify accordingly.

Simple kan? Pilih cat dinding and susun perabut je kan?
