Concussions & Mahomes

Whether you think he has a traumatic concussion or hypoxia- he has a brain injury

What's the data say?

High school & NCAA athletes return at 10 days but this =/= recovery which can take 30 days

Here's the official NFL return to play protocol

Yes - Mahomes might not be fully recovered

Recovery is rapid in the 1st two weeks but can linger for 1 month

NFL attrition 3 yrs post-concussion just to show the impact of brain injuries

Concussion: 30% "survival"

No concussion: 54% "survival"

I don't believe KC or independent neuro would intentionally risk an all-world athlete's health if they didn't genuinely "clear' him

But what does "clear" mean if research says 2-4 weeks is optimal?

Great question

It's systemic & cultural. Nobody and everybody's fault.

The flip side is Mahomes could legit be 100% . I could be way off the mark

But that doesn't change his re-injury risk.

Fingers crossed he makes it out unscathed today.

Where am I wrong? This is a complex/multi-faceted topic. I don't have all the answers.
