The alt-right makes the Star Wars franchise so unappealing that I don't even want to be a part of it. Racism as a marketing tool doesn't work long-term, idiots.

I'm referring to the tweet below. The alt-right has basically flamed out in video games and the superhero genre and is now seeking to rebuild a troll army in the Star Wars franchise.

As usual, it depends on demonizing black women. Seeking to weaponize our hypervisibility to draw interest and attention because trolls have no personality or platform apart from hatred. Vox Day did the same in Comicsgate and the Sad Puppies. And it was pathetic then and now.

Now, I don't know if Disney is going to come through and back her up because Marvel and DC didn't do jack when Comicsgate was at its height and also used that racism to promote their work.

Honestly, these corporations don't care about black people and are thrilled at any sort of attention. And given the wet blanket the last trilogy threw on the franchise, Disney might welcome controversy to shake things up.

A grave mistake.

Here's why it's a mistake. One would think the goal of the alt-right is to drive black women from the community. And that IS the goal of racists. But not the pundits who want money from them. They need us present to hate us. No one cares about them unless they are on the attack.

They have no platform. No interesting criticism. No alluring art. No appealing story. They have nothing to offer save for lies, a piss-poor product cobbled together from stolen ideas, and bigotry. Without us they are nothing. And their audience will drift back to the mainstream.

So, if you let the alt-right push too far, you lose the black women on your team when they walk away in disgust. And, trust me, you do NOT want to lose us. I'm MVP status.

Because when you lose us, when you let bigots ride roughshod over your marketing and product, all you will have left for an audience is a dwindling number of racists led by an untalented tribe of pundits who no longer have anything to talk about.

Another reason why it's a mistake? Guys, it's not 2016. The fascists have moved on because their marks have grown up. That angry teenage incel is now a grown man old enough to figure out he was played mercilessly. And now the best target is a SAHM into essential oils.

It's all so boring.
