THREAD: Thoughts I had a while ago but also a LOT more, its nice to write

With regards to liking old stuff and time outlooks, there's 3 types of people, those who overly idealize the past, those who respect the past but realize the present, and those with no respect for the past
Encountered a prime example of that lаst tуре in my senior year of high school, my physics teacher. He knew science well, but was absolutely terrible at teaching it. When he taught AP chem the year b4, everyone failed the test. Thankfully, I wasn't in his class that year.
When he taught physics, I was the only one who got an A in his class that year. He actually hated me at first, but eventually we reached some level of mutual understanding.

Not to mention, he was also an atheist who debated people on Quora about religion can't make this shit up.
But back to the point, once on some free time, my friend was talking about how he got a record player, and how he thought it was cool. Anyways since its a small class and we all sit in the front, he joins in and starts asking whats the point of getting one, when we have...
digital music, and my friend says "idk its fun". So the teacher starts talking about how people can't tell the difference between music with edited to sound "warm" like a record with added cracking and such.

So he's basically tried to convince my friend that getting one was...
dumb and some hipster thing. Then I recall I mentioned something about how I have my Dad's old TRS80 from 1982 and playing with old things are pretty fun, that there's something to be enjoyed about them, and you can even learn a lot from old computers.

So he fires back saying...
they're useless and that why use it, if we have better things now, and I just kept replying with essentially "its fun lol" until the bell rang.

He may have had a degree from a prestigious university was unable to understand this simple idea:
He was that notorious rеdditor type who would debate you at any moment, (i think this was cope for the fact he was 5'7), and attacked any enthusiasm for old things as being "hipster", despite he himself looking somewhat like one. probably desperately trying not to be seen as one.
The difference between a hipster and a normal person who likes old things, is that hipsters use old things to create an identity off of, while others do it because its fun or they're interested in the history of something, or for ex. learning how computers work from old computers
This revulsion to the past is something which also is seen in people who compulsively buy new phones, clothes, cars, etc. There's no attachment to anything, they don't care about the use for the thing itself, only the associated social status and having something newer & better.
I admit I do have a bit of an attachment to old things. But I don't think that's really that bad. One time when I had a couple of friends over, we were playing with my xbox 360, and we were having a good time, but one of my friends (type who hates the old) didn't...
understand why we were having so much fun with such "old" games. So I said was just because something is old doesn't mean its bad, and he was fundamentally incapable of understanding this (despite the fact he played with us a few times and had fun, but he still wouldn't admit it)
This hatred of the past and anything old or traditional is a cope tbh. This personality type is definitely correlated with libеrаls as well, we definitely see this physically with the tearing down of statues, and news articles attacking many traditional ideas, like the family.
On the other extreme, we have those who overly idealize the past, and a great example of this is e-trads who think we can simply set back the clock to (insert era). They are completely disconnected from reality, and they idealize the past. I think mostly its the idea that...
"man if this was the year XXXX I would have a girlfriend/wife" which makes them idealize the past so much tbh, its a fantasy they live in. Some things about the past were better, obviously there's many things i dislike about modern society, but there's also plenty i do like.
News flash, not every family in the 40s looked like it did in Norman Rockwell's painting "Freedom From Want", my grandfather lived in a garage and worked on railroads in Indiana when he was 12, and joined the navy to escape poverty.
There is a difference between being traditional vs. idealization, It is great to embrace your traditions and to be proud of your culture and history, that is a healthy attachment to the past, and I highly encourage people to learn from their ancestors, have a family, etc.
The unhealthy attachment to the past is the same type of thought process to the "i was born in the wrong generation" types. The old saying "you probably can't change the world but you can change yourself" is relevant here. The world sucks in many ways, but don't let twitter...
get you down. I have faith that I, as well as all of you, have the ability to make it, or maybe I'm just naïve and rеtаrdеd, кто знает? Don't get all of your ideas through Twitter, look to reality: not all women are that 4593 follower girl with blm in her bio and an onlyfans.
Even I, living my whole life in Los Angeles, the belly of the beast, can say that. Don't focus on politics, focus on yourselves. Stop watching porn. Log off if you're sad. Respect the past, realize the future, take the clearpill. You are ultimately in control of your own life.
This thread turned out a bit longer and broader than i expected but if any of you actually read this, give me your thoughts on all the sh/t i've said. I enjoyed writing this whole borderline essay to get my thoughts in writing. Its really therapeutic and helpful to me.
