@jimmy_dore missed a key opportunity to ask some tough questions of the MI Boogaloo Boy he just interviewed, e.g.: We know the fascists who planned to kidnap and live-stream their assassination of MI Gov Whitmer called themselves members of the MI Boogaloo Boys. (1/)
@jimmy_dore needed to ask him: As a MI Boogaloo Boy, did his guest know of, or participate in, the MI fascist insurrection? But JD failed to ask this critical question, instead accepting his guest’s claims to be anti-fascist. (2/)
Then @jimmy_dore compounded the missed opportunity to clarify his guest’s stance on the MI fascist attack planned by the group with whom he associates, by attacking his second guest, @WSWS labor reporter Jery White, for pointing out this major problem with the Boogaloos (3/)
@jimmy_dore Jerry Smith is 100% correct: Despite what any particular member may say, the Boogaloos are not allies. I point this out to urge you to be more prepared when you interview controversial figures in future. Your show has a wide reach so they’ll seek you out.
One final point, @jimmy_dore: Jerry Smith of the @WSWS_Updates was trying to make the point that the Hunts Point strike and the MI insurrection are closely connected....
...The MI Boogaloos tried to assassinate Whitmer bc she issued Covid-19 restrictions (mask, etc.)—These are the same safety conditions the Hunts Point workers are striking to obtain in their unsafe workplace.
To state the point bluntly: The MI Boogaloos, including possibly the MI Boogaloo @jimmy_dore interviewed, and the Bunts Point striking workers are on opposite sides when it comes to Covid-19 health and safety protocols.
See the problem with accepting your Boogaloo guest’s claim that he is “pro-worker” now, @jimmy_dore? No one who is pro-worker or pro-democracy opposes striking workers or be part of a group planning political assassinations bc workers and their gov wanted to be safe from Covid.
