The only significant dam on Norfolk Island is the old mill pond that used to feed the old grain mill built on the creek bed. There’s practically no surface water that’s reliably available for drinking etc.
Almost all of the drinking water on Norfolk Island comes from rooftop rainwater collection.
There is also some groundwater available on Norfolk Island, accessible via private wells and bores only.
Although there is no distribution system (pipes) through which to supply the water, Norfolk Island does have a small containerised seawater desalination plant. The desalinated water is stored in tanks and available for water carters to deliver as needed.
