There’s to plenty righteous to be said about empire and all of that, but I want to write something about how Black people have since our founding been considered the internal enemy, so what it means to have a Black person as Secretary of Defense. https://twitter.com/yamiche/status/1352649388309491713
Just dropping this here: Y’all can be predictable. I mean, it’s predictable, which by definition means I expected it.
Since the Revolutionary War, foreign actors have sought to exploit race, racism, the racial divide, anti-Blackness. It is America’s Achilles heel and Black people, again, have always been considered the internal enemy. This is what I am interested in exploring.
Some of y’all want to pretend that you don’t know the difference between “I love empire and the position of Sec of Defense” and “I want to interrogate what it means to have a Black person named to this role for the first time ever, considering our history.” Ok. Idc.
