I know folks are really jazzed about this Bernie meme thing. It makes me rage nauseous

Here's one MAJOR reason why.

During the 2016 elections, he debated Hillary Clinton in Milwaukee. My kids and I watched.
When asked to name the two leaders that influenced his decisions on foreign policy, he said Winston Churchill.

My children turned to me in shock.

"How can he say that, Amma?"
Why were they shocked at his response? Because I had taught them that Winston Churchill intentionally legislated a policy that would lead to famine in India during World War II (bc India was still a BRITISH COLONY) KNOWING that it would lead to the deaths of MILLIONS OF INDIANS.
He was told it would lead to mass deaths. Over FOUR MILLION Indians died in ONE YEAR. Even as Indians were serving in the British Army.

His response? "I hate Indians. They are a beastly people with a beastly religion. The famine was their own fault for breeding like rabbits”
Winston Churchill is the person who influenced Bernie Sanders' ideas about FOREIGN POLICY.

"Nobody can deny that he rallied the British people when they stood alone against the Nazi juggernaut," Sanders said, during the debate.
(Notice that HE USED THE WORD JUGGERNAUT, the colonial MANGLING of the Hindu god, Sri Jagannath. And he is associating Nazism WITH HINDUISM. Whether or not it is intentional, I care little. Google was around in 2016. If you don't know that Churchill was a monster, that's on you.)
Imagine the audacity of this. So many colonized Hindus gave their lives and sons to fight in WW II, but he doesn't recognize that. Neither does he - to this date - recognize the contemporary persecution of Hindus in the nations surrounding India.
But he celebrates Churchill and "calls out" the "Islamophobia" of refugee legislation that recognizes religious persecution in India's surrounding nations.

The hypocrisy is sickening.
I know all public figures say idiotic things, but this is more than a slip-up. This was very intentional. And I have NEVER heard ANYONE call Bernie out on this in a large-scale way.

It makes me sick to my stomach.
I remember that moment and the look on my children's faces EVERY TIME I SEE HIM.

So, no, I don't really care for the memes - or the man - at all.
