when m9 asked vess what the nine eyes tattoos meant she said:

“they are my connection. they are my right to be the Nonagon”

maybe lucien is so obsessed that thinks he’s special, that he’s the “chosen one”, when in reality anyone who reads the book can be the vessel.

I’m not sure if vess had the same powers as lucien in terms of having no need to sleep or magic gifts but I don’t see why it would be any different if they both read the book.

m9 asked vess what was the book lucien took from her and she said:

“something found. something wasted on those who discovered it. something I was so close to unlocking.”

she answered nothing really but the book needs unlocking. I don’t think lucien unlocked it yet.

what’s the nonagon?

“a vessel. it is a key to Cognouza. It is the one to free the Somnovum.”

they need the nonagon to open the cognouza ward and when they do that they can free the 9 members of the somnovum.
