I had an abortion this fall after experiencing a missed miscarriage. 1/
There were 3 terrible parts abt this experience. Terrible part #1: this was very much a wanted pregnancy. 2/
Terrible part #2: the 3 weeks I had to wait from learning what was going on with my body to finally getting a D&C. I have good healthcare & live in a place w good laws & access. But it was still 3 long weeks. Much of this was actually more tied to... 3/
Terrible part #3: realizing how little science knows about the bodies of people who have a uterus. It’s truly unacceptable. We have so much to learn. 4/
I was an unapologetic champion of abortion access before this experience. And my passion for this issue has only grown since this fall. 5/
I have a lot of privilege and could not imagine having to further navigate the litany of shitty laws that states pass to prohibit access to abortion care. 6/
Any barrier to accessing needed healthcare is inhumane - whether it is a legal barrier, cost, distance, time, or anything else. I’m so ready for us to #ReimagineRoe & grateful for reproductive justice champions leading this work #RoevWade 7/7
