Abortion is a tool of the patriarchy.

I’ll die on this hill.

Rather than rendering women as distanced from pregnancy as men get to be, we need to be holding men responsible for their actions (manipulation, abuse, coercion, rape).

It is not lost on me the immense burden that pregnancy can be (a weight unlike anything that I as a privileged white male would ever have to bear), and I think we have to be very careful about how legal protection for the unborn would be carried out.

For instance, an unyielding criminalization of desperate women seeking abortion as their (apparent) only way out is not the solution to this problem.

We should not trade violence against one marginalized group for violence against another.

But we are lying to ourselves if we think abortion is “good” or a necessary grounds for a just society.

If the ability of women to participate in society must be bought at the price of the lives of the unborn, it is society that is the problem, not the unborn.

This might sound pretentious or whatever, but I’d love to have a chat with @JoeBiden about this. @POTUS
