I have HIV.

I take one pill, once a day.

Thanks to my treatment I will live just as long as any of my peers - and my medication stops me passing the virus on.

If you’re diagnosed with HIV know there’s love, support and a future for you.

This tweet is blowing up so here’s some more key facts.

HIV can affect anyone - regardless of gender, sexuality, age, religion etc.

Testing is free & simple - just a finger prick.

HIV+ on treatment can’t pass HIV on - to sexual partners or unborn children.

GET TESTED!
HIV+ people are just as deserving of love as anyone else.

HIV+ people are just as deserving of employment, housing, support and friendship as anyone else.

HIV+ people have overcome adversity and they’re still here. They are stronger for their experience.
Whilst HIV *has* changed we mustn’t forget the sacrifices and experiences of those that came before us.

Long term HIV survivors often have PTSD, survival guilt, unresolved grief from seeing their social groups die.

Those who died early are a huge reason for modern HIV medicine.
