Tw: ableist slurs

Y'all, when it comes to the words idiot, imbecile and moron, these are slurs. They have been used to oppress people for a century and are still used that way up to today. Especially for people who both have a mental disability and are Black.
Tw: ableism, violence

They have been used to take away voting rights, to take away reproductive rights, to take away a person's autonomy entirely (we still see this today as in cases like #FreeBritney). They've been used to institutionalize, brutalize, abuse.
I won't go into the full history here bc it's easy to look up, but I'm extremely tired of ableists gaslighting me & telling me that these words aren't ableist, have no history & don't do any harm. I'm tired of ppl saying they shouldn't change bc they're "normal" now, so oh well.
As if we've never changed our language before. As if just a few years ago everyone was calling everything they didn't like "gay". People keep telling me I should be more understanding and it's not a big deal.
Fuck that. Ableism is literally killing people. Especially when combined with racism like we've seen as medical professionals have left almost certainly thousands of Black disabled people to die because our lives weren't seen as worth it.
No one has to be nice or understanding or wait for you to catch up because we don't have time. No one is obligated to ask you nicely to respect Black disabled people, especially those of us with intellectual and cognitive disabilities and severe mental illnesses.
Change your language or get dragged for it. I don't care anymore. If you can't care enough to just try to not dehumanize people who are already suffering from eugenics, genocide and more abuses than I could name here, I don't care about your hurt feelings when I call you out.
And if you ask me, even that is nicer than I feel like I'm obligated to be.

I'm not even who suffers the most from this particular intersection of oppression honestly and I'm already so tired of y'all. Just done. Don't gaslight me or ask me to call you out nicely.
