Because of the limited supply, VDH is distributing doses to local health districts based on population.
BRHD accounts for less than 3% of the state population, which is why BRHD was assigned 2,950 doses a week. @NBC29

VDH addresses the fact that over 600k doses in VA have not been administered yet.
A big reason is because they gave 200K doses to Walgreens/CVS to distribute to long term care facilities.
So far, CVS/Walgreens has only administered a little over 50K doses.

VDH says their numbers say CVS/Walgreens has administered 47k vaccines.
CVS/Walgreens numbers say they have distributed around 56k vaccines.
VDH says this discrepancy could be due to a data lag.

VDH says one issue could be that some residents and staff in these long term care facilities are making the decision not to get the vaccine.
Another reason is organizing the distribution at these nursing facilities takes time (lots of high risk people in one setting)
