Hi. Hey. Hello. I'm back to rant about overintellectualising conversations.
Firstly, no one is a natural academic as academia is based on reading, research and scholarship.
Secondly, it only counts as original thinking if you can apply your own narrative and effectively communicate someone else's research without regurgitating the information.
Thirdly, reading and repeating information is performative. This isn't synonymous with intellect or comprehension, it just means that you can retain and offload information.
Therefore, please stop overcomplicating and overintellectualising conversations that can be had using standard vocabulary; unless it's necessary jargon that is used within the topic of conversation, you can relax on the big words.
No one is going to steal the words from your brain if they go unused, so let's stop reciting essays in our day-to-day lives. Thank you.
