If the weeks of protest against #MadamChiefMinister & response by the crew/actors have taught us anything is that:

Dalit Bahujan voices matter.

So proud of all DBA folks who called out the grossly casteist portrayal on the poster + are holding the actors/filmmakers accountable.
“It’s not like white actors portraying black roles, Dalits aren’t a different race”

“No one asked Om Puri his caste when he played Dukhi”

“But you haven’t even seen the movie yet”

Clearly show the discomfort of the Savarana establishment which loathes any interrogation.
They’re nostalgic for an era when UCs played unquestioned messiahs & reaped accolades just for showing caste on screen.

From Om Puri’s Dukhi to Lagaan’s Kachra, Dalit representation onscreen has shaped our narrative for decades.

That’s why we call out who gets to speak for us.
Esp in an era of unprecedented curbs on what’s even allowed on screen.

It’s crucial to not give Dalit rep. a pass just coz it exists.

They don’t get to have us be grateful just b’coz they are finally telling our stories.

They need to tell it right.
