Special love note to the men in the white truck at Penn and 494 yesterday: I was masked, at a light, when several men urgently wanted me to roll down my window. Rolling down my windows can create streaks as my car is washed frequently. So I opened my double moon roof to engage
They asked if I was protecting myself, from myself, presumably because I was masked alone in my car. I told them I was a chauffeur and this was a commercial limo. They quickly sped off and didn’t engage further. But here is my message to them, and any others like them.
I have to operate as if I am covid + all the time. Even if I’m alone in my car, I’ll often be masked to keep my aerosols contained as much as possible. Especially if I’m enroute to a pickup. We have had customers tell us well after the fact that they might’ve been + in the car.
Only one pax notified us immediately, and she was in the medical field. I get around, and while I always wear protection, it’s never a sure thing. So I will continue to drive around masked even when alone in my work vehicle. I have my faults, but consistency in this, is not one.
