BOB DYLAN: "I've seen Buddy Holly play, I've seen Eddie Cochran play, I've seen Sam Cooke. I've seen all these people that are dead. Not a day goes by when I don't think about all these people."

In 1963, after hearing "Blowin' in the Wind," Sam Cooke said to a friend: "From now on it's not going to be about how pretty the voice is. It's going to be about believing the voice is telling the truth." Inspired, he wrote "A Change is Gonna Come." (2/5)
In 1978, in front of 80,000 people in Nuremberg, Bob Dylan introduced "A Change is Gonna Come": "We have a young girl here tonight, in the group. ... She's gonna sing a song for you now, an old Sam Cooke song. You know who Sam Cooke is. This is Carolyn Dennis." (3/5)

To quote my friend @Pod_Dylan: "We are so far from where we should be, & it's easy to get frustrated & wonder, When is this shit gonna stop? ... Every time I get that sense of despair, that feeling of hopelessness, this song in a weird way cheers me up." http://fireandwaterpodcast.com/podcast/pod-dylan-144-a-change-is-gonna-come/
