Done testifying, displayed that I had more direct experience and expertise than most people on the call, didn't get asked any questions by the almost entirely male board with a clear bias toward just getting a hunt in while they can
I straight up redrafted what I said three times based on how the discussion developed and to address some topics they were trying to ask other folks about who didn't have answers, I milked the fact that I'm an occasional trapper and a landowner, no questions asked of me
Then again most of the questions they asked were attempted setups to have their pro hunt, anti wolf bias supported so maybe they just didn't think of a way to do that with me or were tired of this meeting that started 3 hours ago.
I'd also rather be spending my time working on all the actually pressing wildlife issues on my plate but I made the time on this call initiated by legislators who don't know or care how their decisions impact human lives rather than lobbyists filling their wallets.
Just concerned and unimpressed by the way this has been conducted and how no time for public input and no tribal consultation occurred around this "emergency" decision to hunt wolves specifically during their mating season
Now in the closed meeting their asking a question that I answered in my testimony about what scientific research says about wolf hunts. They just didn't want knowledge from me?
"Is there any biological reason to not hold the hunt?" UGAHAGASHHH duh yes
"We have a management plan that hasn't been debunked" -Frederick Prehn NRB Chair just ignoring what multiple scientists and citizens said about the science being outdated
"The tribes, bless their hearts, will never be in favor of a wolf hunt because of the religious reasons. We should honor the six mile buffer around the reservations. but we've go to understand we've been handicapped in our ability to manage the wolf for 6 years now." -Bill Bruins
