#BREAKING Focus of #BC’s #COVID19 Immunization Plan remains protecting elders with age-based approach to delivering vaccines in phases until September.

More than 103-thousand doses have already been administered with @pfizer stock delays impacting the delivery of some first doses in February, but by March, clinics will be set up in 172 communities.
More vaccines to be approved soon. #bcpoli #COVID19
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says #BC is still on target to administer more than 150-thousand doses BEFORE February.

Phase 2: February-March could see nearly 400-thousand doses delivered.

Mass vaccinations slated to start in April. #bcpoli #COVID19
By end of September, up to 4.3-million could be immunized.

Phase 2, set to start in late February, expands to vulnerable populations, Indigenous communities, health staff and people 80+ years old.

Focus on those most at risk with adjustments to accommodate outbreaks. #bcpoli
Start of Phase 3 in April expands to people 79 years old and younger —working backwards in 5-year increments to people older than 60.

This phase includes people with underlying health issues.

People with mobility issues could be vaccinated at home. #bcpoli @SrsAdvocateBC
People unable to be vaccinated in earlier phases won’t lose place in line and depending on how much vaccine is available, more frontline essential workers can be immunized in Phase 3. #bcpoli #bced
Phase 4 begins in July when rest of eligible population, starting with people 59-55 years old and, again, working back in 5-year increments until everyone older than 18 can be immunized.
Pre-registration for general public starts online and by phone in March (79-75 age group).
If you’ve pre-registered in March, you get a reminder to book an appointment when you are eligible.

Proof of vaccine records will be digitally stored with paper copies available. #bcpoli
Those considered “clinically extremely vulnerable” including cancer patients, people with cystic fibrosis or kidney disease and pregnant women can access their first dose starting in April. #bcpoli #COVID19
Still not clear when people will be allowed more access to loved ones in long-term care homes, but earlier this week, we were told that’s possible in March.

More details now being rolled out by Dr. Henry, Health Minister Adrian Dix and Premier John Horgan.
