This has been weighing on my heart since last night and I want to organize my thoughts and just put this out there because it's something I feel I need to do. It involves race so if you don't care, don't read it and this will be the end of it from me.
Last night I saw, yet again, a good person, an NFL reporter who I've met in person get torn down over accusations of being racist because he gave a legitimate reasons for why it is taking Bieniemy so long to get a Head Coaching job. "Bieniemy" is also trending.
I want to organize my thoughts on this & explain why I felt inclined to address this last night where 99% of the people in my position just stay quiet out of fear of what I just described happening to them. I'll lose followers for this so if you are heading out I appreciate u❤️
1. I Believe Eric Bieniemy is a Great Head Coach Candidate and should have a job already, that lesser candidates have gotten jobs over him.
2. I also believe the same about Bills OC Brian Daboll.
3. I believe there is a long list of reasons for why Bieniemy has not yet received a HC offer this cycle that has NOTHING to do with his skin color... here we go.

A) Teams are simply going in a different direction, and is a reason why a Daboll or Joe Brady were not hired either.
The Jags wanted an established leader to build a staff and bring culture. That's not EB, BD, or JB

The Jets went defense. By the way, an Arabian man by descent is now the coach of a New York team, say that to someone from the year 2000.

The Chargers went defense.
The Lions did exactly what I predicted in December, and went with a "Rah Rah" coach who had a proven record of turning Saints blockers into war machines.
The Eagles, very well may have been the spot for Bieniemy but they simply were not going to go back to the Andy Reid pool for a 3rd time in 8 years.

B) Teams want coaches who have proven what they do on their own. Separating EB from his Hall of Fame Head Coach, QB, WR, & TE is
the equivalent of trying to sort through if Mack Jones or Tua are as good as advertised given their elite core. Every single person hired so far, except for Philly which I explained, has an established record of doing what the team was looking for, for themselves.
C) TEAMS DON"T WANT TO WAIT! This is working against Daboll as well, I believe. Teams have cultures to build, scouts to work with to determine what players will be scheme fits, players who want to know where they stand. This matters. Teams may need to wait 3 more weeks to hire EB
D) After all of this, which I believe is more than enough to explain why EB has not yet received a Job, there is the matter of his history. I think I may have left the impression that his DUI and history with Assault & Rape Allegations/ charges should disqualify him...
I do not believe that. I think he has more than shown that he has moved on from this time in his life and is shown by the fact that he is getting interviews. As I've said, HE SHOULD BE A HEAD COACH. That said...
How many people do you know, white or black, that have had DUI's and suspicious activity held against them in the interview process? I know dozens. There are consequences to our actions and Bieniemy is fighting through them.
Every time he has to answer questions about these things, and provide good enough answers that an owner would then choose him over other excellent candidates and make this man the face of a multi-billion dollar organization. That's a big ask and a real factor here.
The reason I felt inclined to post this is that I am tired of everything being about Race. There very well may be a racial imbalance in the NFL, but to use every black coach as an example is forcing that message. People complained about Staley getting a job at 38 as a white man
who "ascended faster than black men can" after being just a linebackers coach in 2018... well... Brian Flores went from a 38 year old linebackers coach to a head coach while Staley at 38 actually went a step further and coordinated the #1 defense in the NFL.
Talking about this stuff is uncomfortable, as it should be. Race is divisive, I will lose dozens of follower for posting this. But the more and more people who make everything at race while silencing or trying to cancel every white guy who says anything to the contrary
is DESTROYING this world and driving all of us further apart & into a deeper state of depression. I hope HOU hires Bieniemy. I hope we see more Robert Saleh's and Jason Wright's getting hired. I hope if Pep Hamilton and Byron Leftwhich build the resume, they get opportunities.
And if you wish to speak up about racial imbalance, I encourage you to do so in a respectful and impactful way. But photo-shopping people in KKK hoods for having a legitimate opinion backed by good reasoning is, in my opinion, a huge threat to our country and our health.
That's all. I will not be responding. I am going to take a break from twitter. I hope this message was productive and can make an impact in the way we talk about race and treat each other when doing so. Back to football. 🏈❤️
