What's surprising me most in this moment is how many folks are trying to play by the 2015 playbook as if the last 5 years didn't happen.

I don't like to magnify the elite vs. common man dichotomy, but the degree to which leaders were innoculated from the chaos of the last few years is showing itself.

Like I'm reading takes that look like they could have been written in 2010 & I'm like, "Seriously?"

I don't mean that folks are simply entrenched. I mean the earth beneath our feet has radically shifted & is still shifting, rearranging the landscape of people's lives & hopes.

It's not an overreaction to say that people are going to come out of this season w/ their lives, vocations, relationships, goals, & dreams radically altered. It's going to take years to asses all that's happened.

I promise I'm not just being a crank. The spiritual toll on folks is so deep. Leaders must understand the kairos of this moment. These last few years were not simply extensions of the previous ones.
