I've seen this graphic going around to claim that most Latins folks have not heard or do not use "Latinx" so I decided to download the data and run my own statistics. Here are my results

First, this study included people in the US only & not folks who LIVE IN LatAm. This only reflects the views of U.S. LatAms, immigrant or not. Spanish (from Spain) are included in this survey & in the og report about Latinx. This is important since most don't consider them Latinx
Race & Country of Origin
Less Black & Indigenous people vs white or Hispanic as a racial category. Mostly Mexican, Cuban, & South American samples. I included Black & Indigenous by country of origin too.

My conclusions:
Determining whether Latinx folks reject the word Latinx based on the results of the National Survey of Latinos is false & misleading. This sample is mostly Mexican/Cuban/S.Am that is mostly white/mestizx, Catholic, green-card holders or citizens.

This means that this whole "Latinos don't like Latinx" isn't reflective of what ppl in LatAm actually feel & doesn't include the voices of Black or Indigenous ppl, undocumented ppl, or LGBTQ+ ppl. It's is just another yt, cishet, U.S.-based opinion.
This is why it's important to understand GENERALIZABILITY. You cant say this represents the opinions of those in LatAm. You cant say that ALL LATINXS dont like the term Latinx. It doesn't even include LGBTQ+ question so how are we saying a gender-inclusive term isn't valid?
In conclusion, you can't use this survey anymore to be bigoted. So fuck whatchu heard. listen to marginalized folks.
