In short, is it the new variant’s biology that underpins its greater virulence - or @BorisJohnson’s failure to protect the NHS from being overwhelmed, leading tragically to *avoidable* deaths from Covid and non-Covid diseases alike?
My fear is that we are now observing a strategic attempt by the government to focus blame on new variant biology in order to deflect attention away from its failure to lockdown sufficiently early, causing the NHS to be overwhelmed - with inevitable consequences for patient care.
