Great 'Know Your Rights' meeting yesterday evening with over fifty PGTAs from across UCL! Here's some of what we found...

After pressure from PGTAs, @TheUnionUCL and @UCL_UCU, UCL brought in a 'Code of Practice' for PGTA employment. This means all PGTAs should be paid at Grade 6 and get annual and parental leave, sick pay and clear hours. But it's not being applied properly!
Some PGTAs have been working since September without pay, without a contract, or both. Many don't know how their hours are being calculated. Lots of us are still working many more hours than we're paid for. This is @ucl breaching its own Code of Practice.
Some PGTAs are being outsourced to Unitemps. Some are being told that the Code of Practice means can only be paid for 180 hours, but will have to work much more. Nobody has been offered equipment to safely work from home. This is @ucl breaching its own Code of Practice.
In some cases, such as offering equipment to work safely at home, and underpaying us, @ucl is also likely breaching the law.
If you work as a PGTA at UCL, know your rights! You can find the Code of Practice, and the job description you should be paid for, on our website here https://uclpgta.wordpress.com/resources/
Even if you don't have a written contract, you still have these rights.
