People study higher ed, it's a field. Some people study subtopics, like community colleges and regional 4-year schools. Some people study narrow subtopics, like dev ed at CCs. Some people study and define student success, they're usually in a higher ed/student affairs area
You can work in higher ed and not know how it works. You can deposit your money and not understand banking. You can change your oil and not understand engines.

People do study these things and they are defined in research.
This is a subtweet of a different thread, it's a really good thread! and I don't want to derail it - because it's talking about faculty success. Which dovetails from success and student success.
