I'm getting a lot of DM's from librarians in toxic situations. Understand that you take your power back the moment you realize that the library you work for does not define you or your future. Your career as a librarian is a story w/ many chapters. Only you own your narrative.
You may feel trapped at the library you work for and hopeless-especially now. But know that your story does not end here and things will not always be this way. Get a vision in your mind of where you want to be and the kind of librarians you want to work with. Hold on to that.
No one can promise you that every library is perfect. You will always find librarians who don't share your vision. There will always be a struggle for resources and respect because frankly speaking society does not really understand or appreciate everything librarians do.
If you are at a place where you feel invalidated or invisible, that is not what this profession is about. If change is possible there-lead that change. If not, start planning your exit strategy. If not possible physically then mentally by vesting your energy into your wellbeing.
There's a difference between managing & leading. If there are toxic librarians on your staff stop making their dysfunction your staff's reality. Stop endearing them w/ terms like "curmudgeon" "snarky" "prickly" as if that is the norm. Be accountable & advocate for your staff.
