Which college athletic depts have the most creatives on staff?

A dive into how Division I FBS schools dedicate personnel to video, graphics, social, digital, communications ⬇️
First, a look at creatives. A few ways to look at it, but here’s the look by conference

Leader: Penn State with 25
Another look at creatives: the breakdown between creative video, broadcast video and graphics/social/digital

Here are the Power 5 schools
Since it’s hard to delineate roles in creative video and broadcast video for all schools (plenty of crossover), here is the same chart but combining video
Here’s a split look at creative and broadcast video. Did this to show (I think) how the Pac-12 doesn’t have to staff its broadcasts with full-time athletic dept staff members thanks to the Pac-12 Network
The kicker: the roles/skills for comm, social, digital and graphics are usually lumped into one job by schools

So with that in mind...
A look at communications staff members by conference (aka SIDs)

Georgia is the leader with 16
Last chart: showing comm-only staffs, split between Power 5 and Group of 5
More to come on this because marketing should also be considered in this total number

But in the meantime...

Here are school averages for comm+creatives staffing

P5: ~21 people
G5: ~8 people
No surprise considering revenue - but there are nearly 3 times more personnel at the P5 level compared to G5 on average when it comes to comm+creative

All info pulled from staff directories on school websites from Dec. 14-29, 2020

Doesn’t include sport-specific creatives
