So - I read this earlier today. A few thoughts to follow. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/01/22/joe-biden-mitch-mcconnell-relationship-460385
#1 - Bork was done dirty and that pushed Cocaine down the path of radicalization. You know - It seems like there has always been Teds stirring up shit. Back then it was Ted Kennedy firing up the left base - not dissimilar to what the other Ted does with the right base today.
#2 - Joe Biden is always underestimated. Twitter underestimated him. The talking heads underestimated him. And you know - I think Obama underestimated him. That’s probably why he did not more enthusiastically push him early. I think he sees Joe as too nice to handle Cocaine.
I think Obama is a smart & decent family man & a patriot. But I think he might kind of believe sometimes that his shit doesn’t stink. I’m not sure he was the best dealmaker. And being a dealmaker is a talent. Obama is an academic and an activist but not a deal maker. Joe is.
Now - how much Joe can get done is to be determined . Cocaine & Joe are getting cut into from both sides but I believe - with a 50-50 senate - America has one of its best equipped & most experienced bridge builders on the job. If anybody can get something done - Joe can.
