Your peers are not stepping stones.
They are other people climbing up and may experience more or less difficulty than you. You don't extend a hand just once, and if you have a ladder to help...use it.
Someone else may do the same for you.

I'm in my feelings about this today. So many of you already treat me with respect and kindness and support. This is not about that. I am seeing more and more people treat others like opportunities rather than people who want to help and I don't enjoy it.
Some people only care when you're doing something big, some people only care if it can benefit themselves. I'm not saying you have to care about everything someone does but respect the person and the hustle, not just the hustle and what it could potentially do for you.
