I was talking to a friend the other day about ableism and they told me that no one truly fully understands all the nuances of ableism. No one person is the arbitrator of ableism. But if someone says something is ableist to them and their experience, then take it as that. (3/4
If you don’t understand, ask why. Don’t just dismiss them and move on. That shows your allyship and advocacy is conditional to what you think is ableism- and that means you think you are the sole arbitrator of ableism in that moment. Don’t do that. Do better. Be better. (4/4
