#ZeroCovid is being pitched as an end to lockdowns. #china is the gold standard when it comes to elimination/suppression and it has had several post elimination lockdowns in places with 0 community spread and this is with vastly superior capacities to #Ireland. Ditto for auz.

I have 0 issues with #ZeroCovid being technically feasible. My issue is that it is not practically implementable HERE...

Even if it was, to pull all the moving parts together it just wouldnt be worth it. The schedule to vaccinate is a faster route to freedom than #ZeroCovid

How many on the various #ZeroCovid thinktanks have actually been to #china or let alone worked in healthcare there? My guess is 0. How many understand the key technical disparities? Infrastructural differences? Urban environment? Governance etc? My guess is 0

Chinas post #ZeroCovid lockdowns happened in places that dwarf #Ireland by scale ... #Beijing population +20m, Shenyang 10m give or take, Qingdao, xinjiang, shanghai +20m etc.

You can't just use new Zealand as a model and ignore #china that is very bad science. If you've ever been to a 1st and 2nd tier city in #china and been to hospitals there you know what functioning healthcare looks like. Its absolutely nothing like what we have here in Ireland.

We are extremely lucky in #Ireland to have some of the best healthcare and scientists. That being said as both a scientist and a doctor I can tell you it does not make you qualified to be an authority on a highly controversial strategy pushing a highly controversial solution

It gets even ropier when the #ZeroCovid solution has to ignore empirical evidence from #china a country with far superior capacities, capabilities, finances and governance compared to #Ireland. I know. 8 years and +3 years in hospitals there.

If #ZeroCovid advocates go and sort out our contact tracing abilities, testing capacities, sort out North and South politics, sort out a new government, come out as advocating for use of force to ensure compliance with quarantine etc then we can start to consider it

Otherwise all these people are doing is flapping lips advocating for an undeliverable concept, hogging airtime, trying to stay relevent and cherry picking their #ZeroCovid model and thus ignoring the fundamentals of good science.
