I remember the first time I looked into vaccine hesitancy back in October/November 2020 (through discussions with friends etc) and there wasn’t much out there on the topic at all— an expert said to me that it’s a topic ‘too difficult to measure’
there was definitely a problem back then within the community and it was growing— but there wasn’t much acknowledgement. I reached out to different government departments about this who just passed me onto someone someone else or ignored me completely
Now everyone’s talking about it left, right and centre but is it a little bit too late to be having this discussion in the middle of the vaccine rollout? Shouldn’t we have looked into this as part of preparing for the rollout plan?
This really frustrates me— and it’s one of the reasons I’m so grateful for @galdemzine, @mlothianmclean and @CharlieBCuff for taking my feature on at a time when we weren’t really talking about this.
I saw too many people confuse anti-vaccine and vaccine hesitancy and still do— dismissing genuine concerns about the vaccine can lead to people finding their answers through dangerous platforms, that’s when the damage starts
