OTD 22/01/44 Waldefucht, Germany. 4 and 5 KOSB finally secured the town after fierce fighting.
5KOSB (52LDiv) entered the town on the 20th with little resistance, however the Germans launched a strong counter attack with 18SP guns and 6 Tigers(not Mk4s) @WeHaveWaysPod

During the 21st The tigers broke into the eastern end of the the town though the large stone gates, and pushed 5KOSB back, isolating one company. 2 Sherman’s of the 4/7 DG are knocked out. The AT Plt Cmd single handedly knock out 2 Tigers. Things are looking grim @WeHaveWaysPod

At this stage 4 KOSB are tasked with reliving 5 KOSB in place, Lt Peter White, the author of With the Jocks is in the lead platoon, embussed in Kangaroo APCs
In an exemplar use of APCs, the move across open ground and reach 5KOSB in good order @WeHaveWaysPod

Whites platoon enter the SW of Waldefucht and push into the E of the town. Taking over a crossroads they see a Tiger moving down the road towards them. He set up his Plt PIAT in alleyway. @WeHaveWaysPod

White, Mckenzie and Brown wait for the beast to expose its self, and at 15yds fire the PIAT. After a blinding flash they see that it struck and damaged the 88mm gun mantlet. The tiger reversed and no longer took part in the action @WeHaveWaysPod @historicfirearm

4th and 5th KOSB cleared the town and on the 22nd it was clear of Germans. A number of Tigers were trapped in town but the stone gates. White sketched these gates as well as being photographed by the APFU @WeHaveWaysPod
