👉Asking for an estimate implicitly forces us to make a commitment.

No matter how the estimation might be used, the one who committed to it subconsciously aims to get the work done sooner. So, instead of aiming for an optimal and quality solution, they'll start cutting corners.
👉Hence, rather than being creative, learn new things, improve and finish the job in the best possible way with an accent to the quality, we focus on getting rid of the stress asap.
👉Furthermore, based on the estimations, folks might start measuring velocity, story points being closed, and other irrelevant metrics, and based on them come up with rewards/punishments for individuals.
👌We must start thinking and get more comfortable with different ways and models of delivering software.
