/ I’m essentially just a national security writer, but I’m going to break my rule just once as some friends are upset @chuckschumer is being “too accommodating” or Biden is being too nice. A little bit of realpolitik might help here:
/ Reasonable relations with @LeaderMcConnell will help get Biden’s nominees confirmed faster. Also, Dems barely have a majority & it includes Joe Manchin, etc. Twitter wants Schumer to throw non-existent weight around. His attitude gets @JoeBiden’s agenda done faster.
/ The first two years are possibly the only time Biden will control Congress. He needs to act with lightning speed and keep a reserve of goodwill so he can still get some stuff through if he loses either House or Senate. So procedural fights now are stupid.
/ @JoeBiden was @BarackObama’s “Senate whisperer.” He knows how to run these plays. It’s like having a coach who is also the quarterback. Let him and @KamalaHarris be effective. They know exactly what they’re doing. Ends.
PS: You want to flex and dunk on the GOP and *also* pass Biden’s agenda? fair enough, but go get another three Senate seats. :) 50-50 won’t do it. Sad but true, as @Metallica would say.
