/ There's an ongoing narrative on UK / Ireland #epitwitter at the moment that the vast majority of people are obeying coronavirus regulations. As I've mentioned in a previous thread, I walk everywhere. Long walks through both countryside and city. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-55764673
/ And I can assure you there is a lot more non-compliance going on than most UK public health people seem to think. The 'covered windows' in the article above is familiar to me; I see it all the time. Bars with windows covered but a faint bass beat audible from inside.
/ Shuttered shop fronts but the noise of bottles clinking inside. So many conversations overheard on the street - 'I'll be over at yours at 8, we'll just say we're bubbled'. Way too many cars parked outside a single house.
/ Masking in some areas of Belfast is still atrocious. I've seen people giggling about wearing their, 'I'm exempt' lanyards. Vans dropping off workers, and, looking inside, seeing none of them are masked.
/ A public works foreman, telling his whole team to put their masks on, purely because he saw me looking at them. So many people I know making a habit out of making exceptions for themselves, with shoddy justifications. And, yes, house parties.
/ Walk through Belfast at night, off the main roads, and you'll see a few every single night. The government's response has been woeful, atrocious, criminal, but please stop using self-reported data to paint the public as angels. Walk the streets and see it yourself /ends
