BREAKING: There's been a HUGE jump in vaccinations done a day in #Wales against COVID19.

21,882 were given out, up from y'days figure of 14,619 - as seen by the graph becoming *almost vertical* on 1st doses/day.

It's ahead of the numbers we need to do a day for mid-Feb target.
Out of the top 4 priority groups, 528,033 more people need a 1st jab.

That means to hit the target by Feb 15th, 21,121 people need to receive the 1st dose a day.

We're ahead of the target based on the most recent figure. This is finally some good news.
But - in terms of 70% of >80s by Sunday evening.

55,441 have received 1st jab. 30.2%. 72,870 more over 80s need the vaccine by Sunday.

That's 24,290 a day until then. So we're behind that target - although some groups may overlap like care home residents.
What if #Wales continued on the current rate? We'll have hit the 740,350 people in the top 4 priority groups first jabs by mid-February.

N.b. this doesn't include second dosage capacity. So we need to increase capacity even further to allow for 2nd dosage.
What about all Care Home Residents and Staff by the end of this month?

Together, 66.3% of all this group have had a 1st dose. That leaves 15,946 people to distribute to.

1,595 people a day unti the end of the month.

That's set to include (probably quite a few) over 80s.
For those of you who are inevitably being like "OMG why aren't you comparing against other UK nations".

That data's not out yet. I'll be doing it later. My main goal is making sure everyone understand's what's going on as I feel there's a lack of messaging on these numbers.
Between 2nd March and the 17th March, 22,595 people will have to have a 2nd dose of #COVID19 vaccine based on the stats and if we continue to give them 12 weeks a part.

But there are worries over claims that the 1st Pfizer dose only has 33% efficacy.
Just to put my head at ease on the numbers re top 4 priority target.

740,350 people in the top 4 groups.

212,317 people have had a first dose.

538,033 left from today to the 15th February (25 days).

21,121 people a day to hit target by Mid-Feb.
N.b. only "offer" so not 100% of people have to have received the dose by mid-February.

Health Minister, @vaughangething, was vague with me about the uptake rate by then.
Please note, the latest data was from 10pm last night, so today counts as a whole day of vaccination.
I’ve asked the @WelshGovernment about why on earth we saw a sharp decline in the rate last weekend and IF this is going to be the case this weekend.
This doesn't include today's data, but here's the situation in the #UK at the moment. Contrary to a lot of twitter users' beliefs, Wales is second here. Scotland lags behind, but England storms in front. https://twitter.com/GillibrandPeter/status/1352646166136172545?s=20
Wales have overtaken #Scotland in terms of 1st vaccines per population.

Wales has covered 6.73%
Scotland has covered 6.56%

We're still awaiting Northern Ireland/England stats.
All #UK data is out and here's how everyone compares per population. It's not a race against the UK, but it's important to see where we're at to hold relevant govts to account.

1st England
2nd Northern Ireland
3rd Wales
4th Scotland https://twitter.com/GillibrandPeter/status/1352657959050948608?s=20
The @WelshGovernment have told me that @PublicHealthW WILL now be publishing #Vaccine data over the weekend so we don’t see a repeat of last week.

Here’s what the WG say about the lower vaccination numbers last weekend 👇
Right, that's me done for the day to enjoy my weekend. I'll try and do a daily vaccine update as they're being published.

I hope this thread has visualised where we're at for everyone.

I also hope as many people as possible get vaccinated against COVID19 asap. PG
