The major vratas are as follows.
(i)Santapana:
This involves living for one whole day on cowâs urine, cowdung, cowâs milk, curds made from cowâs milk and clarified butter made from cowâs milk. The next day is a day of fasting.

(iii)Prajapatya or krichha:
If this vrata is to be observed, one can eat only during the day. For the first three days, one is only permitted to eat twenty-six handfuls of food, each handful being as large as a henâs egg.
