Ødegaard seemingly on his way to Arsenal in the end.

Spanish media reported earlier this week that Martin called Real Sociedad. They looked into it but it’s not cheap, they don’t have money to throw around, they have David Silva, and there are other areas they need to prioritise
Real Sociedad would have loved to have him back, but they just don’t have the economical resources to sign any player they want, have to prioritise and finding a replacement for Willian José (who is set to leave) is more important.
Arsenal have a way bigger wallet than La Real, another world really.

Feeling is that if Ødegaard got to decide himself he would go back to Real Sociedad and they would have loved to have him, it just isn’t that simple.
That said I am sure he will be very excited to get to play in the Premier League and happy to join a big club like Arsenal.

Now let’s just hope they treat him better than Real Madrid did, he deserves that!
Ok to clarify a little bit. I’m not saying Real Sociedad don’t have enough money but that it’s about priorities. They don’t have the amount of money that they can throw them around, they have to make careful priorities in how to use the money they have.
Taking Ødegaard on loan for half a season from Real Madrid, and especially when you have a club like Arsenal interested as well, will end up being very expensive and you get very little (time) out of it. Real Madrid also likely for several reasons to prefer loaning him to arsenal
In the end it all make very much sense, it’s just a shame for us that follow Spanish football to not have him in LaLiga this season.
Also been reports Real Sociedad wanted a longer loan and option to buy which make sense. If they were going to put what for them is A LOT of money they need to get more out of it than a half season long loan.

But Real Madrid not interested in that.
Honestly think Real Sociedad are making the right decision here, just a shame... that’s all.
