A thread on how Alexis Sanchez went from being the best player in the Premier League to one of the most Injury prone players itw....... (there are some parallels to players like Eden Hazard as well in this thread). Hopefully this will change your perspective of him a bit.
Alexis Sanchez has had "FIVE MONTHS" less rest than his Premier League colleagues in his last 5 years (2014-19).
Being the main man for the Chilean National team meant that he had been involved in a summer tournament every year since 2014. *except the 2018 WC
Sanchez's summers since 2014

2014: World Cup quarter - final
2015: Copa America - WINNERS
2016: Copa America Centenario - WINNERS
2017: Confederations Cup - Final
2018: Rest
2019: Copa America - Semi Finals
2020: Finally gets another rest
At first nothing seemed wrong, in his 4 years at arsenal he only missed 10 games due to injury. It was here when he turned into a real beast and became one of the best players in the world.
But all these extra minutes started to take a toll on his body. The success with the national team came at cost of his physical durability. It started to show after his move to Manchester United in 2018. He missed 20 games in his 2 seasons at United (twice the number he missed at
Arsenal in about half the time). I'm not saying that his spell at united was spoilt completely due to the injuries but yes they did play a huge part. Another thing which triggered these series of injuries was his urge to win the ball back as soon as he had lost it (continued)
as it requires immense amount of workrate, stamina and endurance to do that for full 90 minutes (which you know he had if you have watched him play). The stats above show that. He still tries to win the ball back asap. The stats above show that.
Fouls Suffered : Since joining the Premier League, Sanchez had been one of the most fouled players every season alongside Eden Hazard (fellow premier league winger who is suffering regular injuries as well).

No. of fouls won 17/18 till feb
Alexis Sanchez- 56
Eden Hazard- 52
This is another reason why in the later stages of their respective careers they both are facing injury problems. Jose Mourinho once said 'Maybe one day we will no longer have Hazard'. Mourinho said the defenders always play aggressively against Hazard, suggesting it could lead to
injuries. I've been a huge fan of both of these players myself and was very surprised and sad to see their careers fall off so quickly. I'm sure many other fans would have been wondering about this as well so I put out a thread with what I think happened to them.
Hopefully they can overcome these setbacks and end their respective careers on a high note ♥️ Thank You all for reading! End of thread.
