I can't say joining track and cross country in high school solved all my teenage problems, but it did make me so much stronger in numerous ways. It distracted me from less positive activities and made me work really hard every day.
The star of the girl's team would never have come close to the times of the fastest boy runner, but she was as much a champion as him--because we had separate categories.
