It's not the first issue with mines Neath & Port T have had. In fact due to these prior paces you'd think a full review of all county mines would be undertaken.... You'd not want to see where these mines are pinned on Google maps -
Goshen Park vs GPs former mines.
If the gps off the mines linked are thus... The flooded area has a mine above and below it...
Issues with interconnected mines...
Seems as though, perhaps, the lower mine filled to capacity, as did the upper mine, and puddle puddle toil and trouble.
These issues are preventable with continued monitoring and ownership - #Skewen #mine #flooding @bethanjenkins
Preventable to the extent that they shouldn't have been built on* and to the extent they should be monitored so the residents would have time to evacuate when the lower mines water pressure maximises. It's a mine water volcano effect... Issue, over Sat water basin below & rise?
The flood alert for this week...
When you have an oversaturated flooding water basin below 2 x interconnected mines - you end up with a hell of a lorra water pressure with nowhere to go but 'Up', like Yazz said... #Skewen #flooding #mines #Wales #Cymru
