Ted (aka Teddy, Teddy Bear, Teddums and so on) came to the sanctuary on Feb. 3, 2020 and he is our oldest pony resident. We estimate, based on his teeth which are worn down to nothing, that he is in his mid-30s! ...
Ted was a severely neglected pony with feet that curled up when he was rescued by his owner. He lived a happy life there, but liked to wander all over the countryside, visiting the neighbours' horses. When we found out about Ted, and talked to his mom, ...
she though coming to the sanctuary would be a great retirement home for him where he would have friends and have his medical needs cared for.

Ted is a happy, friendly guy, blind in one eye, and losing sight in the other from age, but that doesn't stop him! ...
Because of his lack of teeth, Teddy gets fed a special soaked mash twice a day. He also gets special treatment in the winter with two blankets and a heat lamp as he doesn't handle cold well.
Ted has given us a couple of health scares since coming, but he is a tough little man!...
Fun Fact About Ted: Ted spent the month of March 2020 living in our porch as it was very cold and his core body temp dropped because he was quite thin. The first couple nights he was in there, Amber set up a bed for herself on the porch floor so Teddy wouldn't be lonely...
Ted actually lay down beside her and flopped his head on her to use her as a pillow. He also peed on her during the night. Lol!!
