The most urgent matter for the #SBC Credential Committee, I told the chairpersons on Zoom today, was to find out how communication had broken down with her after she filed her concern in May, 2019, not getting another personal word from anyone on the CC for 18 months! ....

How was it that the decision letter they sent her stated they had tried to reach her by phone and email, but she did not respond....when, in fact, Jules had absolutely no record of ever being contacted. If she had, they likely would have learned much more, which they got today...

They got it thru me, reading the entire document that some have assumed the CC had received b4. It was a letter with a great set of questions, sent not only to Steve Bradley, senior pastor and great illustrator for anyone who is unclear what collusion with abuse is all about! ...

As if @dansu3williams @wartwatch @ThigpenTiffany @ChristaBrown777 + a zillion others on #Churchtoo and #SBCToo don't know! As Jules and I had come to realize, the chairpersons heard that letter for the first time. They could not hide the shock that showed on their faces as....

they tried to figure out where they could go next. Obviously, they'd assumed they could rely on the congregation to tell them what they needed to know OR the association or state leaders--"That's the best way to get bamboozled," I assured them. Partly because....

Those who are guilty of collusion aren't going to let their next-door neighbors know the truth, let alone strangers coming around asking questions! I swear--naivety is real, folks--but that's how they were thinking, and this we commonly see after 3 decades of this work!!.....

A banker wouldn't think twice about whether somebody got an important email. A certified letter would be in order with no hesitation. Jules had sent such letters, in fact, to Bradley and his church leaders. Yet, nobody thought to for their most important witness!

So, they assumed what so many do: This survivor is too embarrassed or distraught (maybe she's "moved on," I sometimes hear) to want to talk. Since they also inexplicably got confused (or perhaps truly so overwhelmed from lack of training).... @northwestbomom

They also both got it twisted in their heads, insisting to me that @juleswoodson11 was not the one who filed the concern, only somebody else whose name they could not recall. "?????" I asked. "Not what I understand. How come I didn't know this?" Turns out, minutes after the mtg..

I received a humble apology from the chairman, who was not the one in charge until recently. He had gone back to his files and discovered it WAS Jules who submitted the concern after all!! Is this for real? When and how did the entire committee get misinformed? .... @shellierainey

Much more to be sorted out in this bamboozled bunch. Lots of answers I will be seeking, but tomorrow's another day and I've had too many miles today. Another lesson in the complexities of the never-ending saga of collusion! 1 thing I still believe in--direct communication.
