It's not just you. Every creator I know has had issues all year with focus and concentration. The work we do is dependent on accessing particular mind space. We live in our own little worlds. It's our job. So don't beat yourself up if you're not at your best. We all get it.
While my work quality is good (she wrote modestly,) my productivity has tanked. The focus and flow required keeps getting interrupted and short circuited. Hours get lost in anxiety, doomscrolling. Have tried everything I can think of to get it under control.
I've seen significant improvement in last 60 days, but for most of the year I was lucky to work at half speed. Emotional exhaustion, sleepless nights, and many, many hours of beating myself up for not being better. No my friends, it's not just you. Be kind. To yourself.
I feel terrible for not making better use of my resources during this time. And I need to stop feeling terrible about it and just get on with making art, do the best I can, and make even more art. I wish you all a return to the place in your mind and heart to make art, too.
Wasn't going to post, but I actually started to cry writing this. Art didn't get made because headspace wasn't there for it. I feel like I robbed myself. But we're all in the same mess. And it messed with our heads. Our peace of mind. What a year. 2021-I have hopes. Love to all.
