The only top player who publicly fights for the low-ranked players and to equalise their top-down pay structure is Djokovic. Nadal used to, but the 2012 Fed issue put him off. The top female players never did for their low-ranked women. Yet, the latter won't get criticized. 🧐
This isn't the same as fighting for equal pay, which is a grand slam negotiation, not a whole circuit kinda thing.

In a whole circuit negotiation, they fight for each circuit. The ATP top brass fights for the ATP circuit & the WTA top brass... doesn't fight for theirs. 🧐
I've not heard "Serena & Azarenka are hard negotiating the pay% of the WTA players, especially that of lower-ranked ones. They may threaten a boycott soon."

Serena et al. were quite fine with inheriting the same pay disparity between top & bottom when they got equal pay in 2007.
And this WTA pay disparity between high and low ranks is reportedly worse than the ATP circuit disparity.

So why exactly are the top WTA brass not being criticized as much as silent Fedal? They're doing nothing compared to what their ATP equivalents have been trying to do.

👀
Haven't heard any frontier-breaking requests and implorations from the WTA top players, to equalize the living spaces of the WTA low ranks in AO.

Serena? Osaka? Nothing.

Maybe because they know they earned their top player privilege. What else can it be?
They may have fought for a bit (a week or two of PR? Lol), but that isn't the same as publicly fighting, putting yourself in the line of fire for 2-3 years on the trot.

TT's silence on their silence is a selfish, sexist fear of being cast out of the "cool" clique. 😇
