I’m going to ask a crazy question: Is it possible that Trump supporters could align with #BlackLivesMatter ?

Hear me out: I had a conversation today with a #BLM activist. We started exploring the incident at the Capitol but veered off to other topics:

Here’s what I learned from him:

He does not like Antifa, and sees them diametrically opposed to BLM.

He says they are the left’s equivalent to QAnon.

He feels the violence and burning dilutes the movement.
Many of the organizers hate the violence too. It’s counterproductive to their cause.

It seemed to not occur to them to denounce it because it was usually caused by people outside the peaceful protest participants and organizers.

It was people taking advance.
You may disagree with their cause (broadly speaking I do, though I also think a greater emphasis on mental health isn’t bad)....

HOWEVER, he described emotions and how they felt were similar to Trump supporters.

Like they are forgotten Americans too.
Now, on the Trump side:

Trump supporters are not racists. The media just portrays them that way.

And in reality, people who are tricked by the media are victims too. They are not our enemy. They aren’t being told the truth.
Trump supporters want everyone to be treated fairly. EVERYONE.

There is a disagreement about if there is a problem. But put that aside for a moment.

The GOAL is the same. Both sides share the same desired end result. Just agree to the goal, then look at the numbers.
I believe the populist right has more in common with the populist left than they do with neo-cons and RINOs

And I believe the populist left has more in common with the populist right than they do with establishment Democrats like Joe Biden WHO LITERALLY WROTE THE 1994 CRIME BILL
If we can agree that
1) Antifa is bad
2) Violence is bad
3) Everyone should get treated like a human being
4) We want everyone to be treated fairly by police and more money in mental health
5) that racism is abhorrent but most people aren’t racist.

Then can we start there?
