#PositiveStories

In this month's Bharat Darshana Magazine, there is a wonderful story on Honesty & Dedication to work which was translated into Kannada. Originally, this was published in Kalyan magazine.

I am capturing the essence of the same below.

1/
During olden days, in Ujjain, there ruled a king called SajjanaSimha. He was a very just and popular king amongst his citizens, whose fame spread in all 4 directions.

In one of the offices, there was a senior officer called Srinivasa. He was a very honest and simple person.

2/
The other colleagues in his office were shrewd and scheming types. They used to make fun of Srinivasa's unassuming simplicity & blind trust on his colleagues

Many a times they used to create false expense slips & get Srinivasa's signature on the same, who used to trust them

3/
Because of this, money from treasury found it's way to the personal coffers of these officers.

This was a wide open secret which reached the King's ears too. Once a huge expenditure was approved by Srinivasa which was actually the corruption that was going on

4/
The King was aware of Srinivasa's honesty, yet ordered for an official investigation.

Sri Shivashakti was the chief judge of Ujjain's court, who also happened to be Srinivasa's own son.

He too was known for his honesty & simplicity & widely respected by one & alll

5/
Both the sides argued for the case. Srinivasa argued passionately on his behalf too.

The day of judgement came. It was a tension filled atmosphere with everyone looking forward to the judgment. The entire country was looking towards this one incident

6/
The judge says:
"The amount approved has the signature which is not disputed by Srinivasa. Hence, we find him guilty & order him 6 months imprisonment & fine of 500 coins"

After passing the order, the judge immediately gets up from his chair & falls the feet of his father

7/
He begs for forgiveness and starts to sob uncontrollably. His father too couldn't control his emotions and started crying.

The entire courtroom was filled with emotions & many broke down viewing this unusual turn of events.

8/
The guys who were part of corruption also were surprised at the turn of events.

The court was adjourned for the day. The judge sent a copy of his judgment & his resignation letter to the king.

The king was stunned reading the judgment from Shivashakti

9/
He rejected Shivashakti's resignation & requested him to continue in his role.

With special powers bestowed on him, he pardoned Srinivasa too.

Our history many of these wonderful incidents where honest judges have set an example for us to follow
